About Russell Bottoms

I‘m Russell Bottoms, and I’m thrilled to share a bit about myself with you.

For the past 18 years, I’ve been blessed to be married to my wonderful wife, Amber. Together, we’re raising two energetic boys—one at Louisburg Elementary School and the other at Terrell Lane Middle School. Amber has dedicated herself to elementary education for the past two decades and is now a reading interventionist with Franklin County Public Schools.

Our roots run deep in Franklin County, stretching back to the early 1700s. This community holds a special place in our hearts, and we’re committed to its well-being and future growth. Franklin County isn’t just where we live; it’s our home—we’re Franklin County Strong!

Service has always been a cornerstone of our family values. Over the past 26 years, I’ve served as a volunteer fireman, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief before recently retiring to focus on serving Franklin County efficiently and transparently. My time as a fireman was incredibly rewarding, culminating in honors like being named Fireman of the Year in 2013 and receiving the Chief’s Award in 2016. Currently, I sit on the Board of Directors for the Gold Sand Fire Department, a role I’ve held proudly for six years.

Beyond firefighting, I’m deeply involved in community organizations like the National Wild Turkey Federation, where I’ve served as Chapter President and received recognition as Volunteer of the Year. Additionally, I currently serve as Chairman of the Franklin County Animal Services Advisory Board.

Entrepreneurship runs in my blood, and I’ve been running businesses from a young age. From taking over my father’s pallet recycling business at 16 to running a successful cattle operation today, I’ve learned valuable lessons about hard work and determination.

When I’m not busy with community work or business endeavors, you’ll find me enjoying quality time with my family or pursuing my passions for hunting, fishing, and conservation.

I’m excited about the opportunity to serve you as your next Franklin County Commissioner in District 3. Let’s work together to make our community an even better place to live, work, and thrive.
